This has been a labour of love. Hard labour but enjoyable. A book titled "Grey Kilts" was the work of Sergeant Duncan Tovey (London Scottish Regiment) and published shortly after his premature death in 1918.
"A fortnight before his death my stricken comrade, Duncan Tovey, handed me the manuscript of this little book saying "John, you'll see it through for me?"
I promised.
A proof of the first few pages was posted to him from London about the same time that his spirit was passing hence at Worplesdon.

The music on this album is mainly by myself, Ian Bruce. Most of the works in the book, if they were ever songs, have faded away like the soldiers who wrote them. Here they are reimagined.
